From skiing to tobogganing - winter adventures on the Hirschenkogel

Skiers of all levels will find ideal conditions here. The Hirschenkogel offers perfectly groomed pistes, while the Happylift provides the perfect learning environment for children and beginners. Every two years, the Semmering World Cup attracts international stars - a special experience for anyone who wants to ski down the same piste as the world champions.

Tobogganing on the longest toboggan run in Eastern Austria is great fun for families and groups. There are easy hire options on site.

Snowshoeing on the Rax

Those who prefer a quieter experience can explore the Raxplateau on snowshoes. Austria's oldest passenger cable car takes hikers up to the top in comfort, allowing them to enjoy the glistening winter landscape in a relaxed manner. Snowshoeing is a particularly health-promoting winter experience: it strengthens the cardiovascular system, stimulates blood circulation and offers peace of mind and soul at the same time. There is a hire centre on site and guided tours make it easier for all levels to get started.

Hiking in winter & experiencing culture

The region offers numerous winter hikes, both in the snow and on clear, frosty paths. The path along the historic Semmering railway, part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site, is particularly impressive - here, nature and history merge with every step. You can also experience winter up close and personal on a winter walk in Falkenstein Nature Park.

The Semmering-Rax region is easily accessible by public transport: The railway, RUFbus Semmering-Rax and regional bus routes take guests to all winter and cultural destinations in a comfortable and climate-friendly way. In addition, the winter shuttle provides convenient transport between hotels, Semmering train station and the cable cars on the Hirschenkogel - so your winter holiday can begin in a relaxed, sustainable and car-free way.

Events throughout the year

In addition to winter activities, the region offers a wide range of cultural activities: the cult tent provides varied entertainment with concerts and special events. During Advent, atmospheric markets enchant visitors with local craftsmanship and culinary specialities. A highlight of the year is definitely the AUDI FIS Women's World Cup on the Semmering Hirschenkogel.
