The beer for the mountain

Since the 19th century, Vienna has been supplied with high-quality drinking water from springs in the Rax and Schneeberg region - this water is also the most important basis for the beers brewed by Alexander Hauser and Nikolaus Sindelar. The duo took over the "Raxbräu" brewery a few years ago.

As demand had already exceeded production capacity at the original site in Payerbach, the brewery and brewpub opened in Hirschwang at the foot of the Rax cable car in 2025. The beers are brewed exclusively with organic ingredients and are bottled in their natural state, neither filtered nor pasteurised.

The brewery

The catering in the brewery should also be simple, but with outstanding basic products from organic farming. The water from Reichenau and the naturally brewed beers combine to create an authentic flavour experience that perfectly reflects the Raxbräu philosophy. The pub is always open from Friday to Sunday. The beers can also be tasted and purchased there.
