The tavern Giehsauer in Penk is a family-run farm that offers homemade Heurigen cuisine and produces its own agricultural products. The Giehsauer family processes many of their own products and serves classic snack dishes such as a traditional platter of cold cuts, smoked meats, braised pork, pork ribs, homemade sausage, bacon, and spreads. Vegetarian snacks and special children’s meals are also available.
Homemade pastries such as nut and poppy seed strudel, Schmerstrudel, or apple cake round out the menu. These are accompanied by cider, sweet cider, juices, liqueurs, and brandies. Meat and sausage specialties are also available for takeout directly from the farm. Its peaceful location at about 640 meters above sea level also makes the wine tavern a perfect stop for walks, hikes, and bike rides around Penk.
