Hiking tour Starting from Entrance Kesselgraben in the Höllental (Kesselgraben bus stop)
One of many ascents to the Gloggnitzer Hut leads from the Höllental through the Große Kesselgraben up to the Raxalpe.
The Gloggnitzer Hut, located at 1,548 meters above sea level, was renovated in 2011 and is managed on Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays by volunteer members of the ÖGV local group Gloggnitz. The simple but warm hospitality with soups and drinks is available year-round except from mid-November to New Year's. Sleeping accommodations are also available in a dormitory at the hut.
Especially ski tourers appreciate the Gloggnitzer Hut not least because of its location above the Kesselgraben as a starting point for magnificent routes. In summer, the hut is also accessible on foot only. Klettersteigs (via ferratas) of various difficulty levels, such as the Hoyossteig, Rudolfssteig, Gaislochsteig, Alpenvereinssteig, or Teufelsbadstubensteig, lead through the Große Höllental to the Gloggnitzer Hut. The hut can also be comfortably reached from the mountain station of the Rax cable car via the Höllentalaussicht in less than 2 hours. On the Rax plateau, various hiking trails connect the Gloggnitzer Hut with other huts, such as the Ottohaus, Dirnbacher Hut, or Neue See Hut.
