5 tips for 3 days

1| Experience UNESCO World Heritage: Breitenstein-Payerbach railway hiking trail

A hike that breathes history: the 11 km trail leads from Breitenstein to Payerbach along the railway line and numerous viaducts. A stop-off point on the hike is the historic post office in Küb, where Empress Zita once posted her letters.

2| Vinodkt - Wine and more

History and wine come together in the Vinodukt: the Vinothek is located directly in the Schwarzaviadukt, the longest viaduct on the Semmering Railway. With a view of the historic railway line and selected wines from the regions along the Southern Railway, you can experience the region in a unique way. A place that makes history tasty.

3| viewpoint "Jubiläumsaussicht" - panorama to take a deep breath

The hike to the viewpoint rewards you with a spectacular view of the Rax region. Stop off at the Waldburganghütte makes the excursion perfect. The circular hike takes approx. 4.5 hours and is just under 9 kilometres long.

4| Looshaus - Culinary delights with history

The Looshaus combines timeless architecture and modern home cooking. It was designed by architectural pioneer Adolf Loos. The restaurant has been run by the Steiner family for five decades and serves regional specialities such as Kreuzberg trout, lamb and game dishes.

5| Grillenberg show mine

An experience regardless of the weather: the temperature in the historically preserved ironstone mine is a constant 8 °C all year round. On the educational trail to the mine, visitors learn more about the rocks before entering the tunnels and experiencing underground history up close.
