Rural retreat with every comfort
This 100-year-old wooden house is surrounded by forest on three sides and offers a stunning view of the Rax. The sunny, south-facing view stretches from the Rax to the Preiner Gschaid. The house is heated by two Swedish stoves, which are capable of heating the entire house. A modern kitchen with a dishwasher, refrigerator (with freezer compartment), and induction stove rounds out the basic amenities. A wonderful place to relax and enjoy nature.
There are 2 bedrooms: one large bedroom with a double bed (180 x 200 cm) and another with two double beds (140 x 200 cm). The bathroom with toilet and shower is on the same level and accessible from both rooms.
In the living room, there is internet streaming TV on a projector with an electric projection screen. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the house. Additionally, there is an electric heater for quick warmth when preheating the space. For long-term stays, the aforementioned Wi-Fi and a workspace are available for working from home—either at the dining table or at the small desk in the living room. You can also connect your laptop via the projector.

The entire house is available to guests. This includes: 2 restrooms (ground floor and upper floor), the kitchen and dining room, as well as 2 bedrooms with a bathroom and shower.
This is a 100-year-old house whose insulation does not meet modern standards. Therefore, when it’s cold, please make sure to stoke the stove in the dining room with the stored firewood in the evenings to ensure that the bedrooms upstairs remain warm. The electric radiators are intended only as supplemental heating and should not be used as the sole source of heat.
Description of the neighborhood
There is nothing but nature in the immediate vicinity. It takes about 7–10 minutes by car to reach Reichenau an der Rax, where you’ll find everything you need, such as a pharmacy, several supermarkets, an ATM, and a train station (Payerbach-Reichenau). It takes about 30 minutes to get to the ski slopes (Semmering/Stuhleck). Reichenau also has an excellent bakery/pastry shop, and for cultural enjoyment in the summer (July/August), there’s the widely renowned Reichenau Festival. Right from the house, you can walk through the property’s own forest up to the most beautiful hiking trails. There are plenty of hiking options: for example, up the Rax—either on foot or by gondola. On hot days, the Schwarza River offers a refreshing dip, or you can simply enjoy the sun by the cool river. For those who love a challenge, there are numerous via ferrata routes ranging from difficulty levels 1 to 11 and secured rock climbs (from A to D) on the Rax and the Schneeberg. The Schwarza River also offers unspoiled kayaking waters (A to D).
Out and About Around the Accommodation
Public transportation (bus) is available right in Edlach an der Rax, about a 10-minute walk from the house. It goes to Payerbach to the train station, where you can reach Vienna in about 1 hour. (Wiesel)
