Eissalon Salek, a historical jewel in Wiener Neustadt, is a testament to the rich history of artisan ice cream production. The roots of this ice cream parlor date back to 1959, when Gerolamo Moratello, a native of Trentino, founded the first ice cream parlor on this basis. In 1975, the Salek family, also from the Trentino region, took over the business and continues the artisan tradition to this day. The history of ice cream is uncertain, with possible origins in ancient Arab or Chinese cultures, but the spread of artisan ice cream, first in Italy and then worldwide, is thanks to the gelatieri from northern Italy. Eissalon Salek is proud to continue this tradition and offers a variety of ice cream specialties.
