An idyll in the middle of the city

Between the railway station and the water tower lies Wiener Neustadt's city park, one of the city's many green spaces. The city park invites visitors to slow down and relax with its winding paths and plenty of seating in the most beautiful spots.

A huge children's playground with the highest play tower in Lower Austria awaits children of all ages. The pavilion has been used for matinees for decades. The pond in the middle of the park is a popular place to relax for all generations.

Protected by the thick walls of the Alte Bastei, you can sit on the terrace of the "Löwenherz im Stadtpark" wine tavern near the Kasematten. From here, you have a magnificent view of the city park.

"Natur im Garten" show garden

The Wiener Neustadt City Park is now a certified "Natur im Garten" show garden, inviting visitors to explore and linger. This award recognises the park's commitment to natural and ecological design.

In order for Wiener Neustadt City Park to receive this award, important natural garden elements were taken into account:

  • old Osage orange trees along Lederergasse
  • a majestic weeping tree designated as a natural monument
  • Christ thorn, yew, ginkgo
  • ponds and water areas create habitats for amphibians, dragonflies and other aquatic creatures
  • two imposing plane trees
  • An elegant weeping beech
  • Tulip tree and other botanical features

Nature in the garden

Blooming city park

Blooming meadows, shady groves of trees, natural areas and diverse habitats for animals make the city park a green heart in the middle of the city. Visitors can not only relax here, but also experience how natural gardening and landscaping works – in line with the "nature in the garden" philosophy, which focuses on avoiding chemical synthetic pesticides and herbicides.

To mark its 150th anniversary in 2022, the historic rose garden has been brought back to life. The pond has been completely renovated and now shines in new splendour, while a modern dry garden complements the diversity of the park. New zones serve as a basis for future projects related to art, culture, youth and nature.

Whether you're taking a leisurely stroll, playing with the children or consciously observing butterflies and birds, the city park is a place that harmoniously combines relaxation, nature and sustainability.
