Semmering Meierei - golf course hike

Your hikes in the Vienna Alps should be a thoroughly enjoyable and safe experience. Please observe the following:

Preparation

Make sure when choosing the route that it matches your experience and fitness. Check the weather report in advance. Weather in the mountains can change suddenly and quickly. Always set out properly equipped (e.g., rain protection).

Check if the mountain huts and snack stations you plan to visit on the way are open. Inform someone about your chosen route and your planned return before you start.

Stay on marked trails and avoid shortcuts. Due to dryness, meadows and forests are easily flammable. Have a respectful use of fire and report any possible fire immediately to the fire brigade (122). Do not throw rubbish into the landscape and dispose of it properly.

Always carry suitable maps with you. Wear sturdy shoes appropriate for the route, take sun and rain protection as well as water and a small snack. Take your mobile phone with you and save the mountain rescue emergency number: 140

The starting point is at the pass summit and you reach the small kiosk via the Hochstraße, passing the Hotel Panhans and the Panoramahotel Wagner. We walk down the valley on Liechtensteinstraße (forest road). After about 1.5 km, the hiking trail intersects with another forest road. Here we go about 50 meters downhill and turn left onto the forest path to the golf course. Passing the tee-off holes, the path leads us to the Meierei. We go back a short distance and then pass on the left above the golf course by the impressive villa to the Hochstraße.

Public parking spaces are available at the pass summit.

From Vienna, take the A2 South Motorway to the S6 Semmering Expressway and take the Maria Schutz exit. Turn right onto L4168. Continue on Semmering/L4168, Semmeringstraße and Passstraße up to B306.

From Graz, take the S6 Semmering Expressway and take the Spital/Semmering exit. Turn left onto Semmering Ersatz Str./B306. Continue on B306.

Arrive by train to the Semmering station.
