Hiking tour Starting from Weichtalhaus
Hike along the Ferdinand Mayr Trail from the Weichtalhaus in Höllental up to the Kienthaler huts on the Schneeberg.
From the Weichtalhaus in the Höllental valley, you can reach the Kienthaler huts either via the via ferrata through the Weichtalklamm gorge - surefootedness is essential here! The more pleasant route is via the Ferdinand Mayr Weg and is also suitable for families. However, due to the walking time of over 2 hours, you should also plan breaks. The Kienthaler Hut is located at an altitude of 1380 meters on the south-western Schneeberg. The rustic wooden log cabin is situated in a picturesque location at the foot of the Turmstein. Via via ferratas, you can quickly reach the Turmstein summit at 1416 meters above sea level, where you can enjoy breathtaking views of the Große Höllental, the Rax, Schneealpe, the Mürzsteger and Türnitzer Alps. The Kienthaler hut is run by the "Alpine Gesellschaft Kienthaler" association and offers places to sleep as well as simple meals with bread and soups. This makes it the ideal stopover for a hike to the Schneeberg summit, which can be reached from here in one to two hours.
The Kienthaler hut can also be reached from Losenheim via Lahning and the Fadenweg trail or you can hike down from the Hochschneeberg via the summit after a ride on the Schneebergbahn cable car.
