You can start the ascent to the Almrauschhütte directly at the pilgrimage church in St. Corona. Past the Ödenhof inn, the hike continues along forest paths up towards Kampstein. You can stop for refreshments at Gasthof Orthof. The Almrauschhütte is located below the Kampstein summit (1467m). On a clear day, there is a great view over Schneeberg and Rax to Vienna and across the Bucklige Welt to Lake Neusiedl and Hungary. The hut is not staffed. Drinks from April to October are self-service (vending machine on site). A large terrace invites you to relax. Here you can enjoy the peace and quiet and the view.
There are alternative ascent routes starting at the Ödenhof (approx. 1 hour) or from the Orthof (approx. 45 minutes), as well as from the other direction from the Herrgottschnitzer huts (approx. 25 minutes) or from the Kampsteiner Schwaig (approx. 35 minutes) on the Wechsel.

Make sure when choosing the route that it matches your experience and your fitness. Inform yourself in advance about the weather forecast. Weather in the mountains can change surprisingly quickly. Therefore always start out properly equipped (e.g., rain protection).
Check whether the huts and snack stations you want to visit along the way are open. Inform someone about your route choice and your planned return before you start.

From our starting point at the church in St. Corona, we keep right and head towards Ödenhof. Passing Ödenhof, the path leads us past the breakfast pension "Haus Gottfried" onto a forest road. We walk under the former ski lift and have the option to make a detour to the Gasthof Orthof. Then we head uphill towards Kampsteiner Schwaig and pass a pond. We reach a crossroads where we turn left onto the path uphill. From here, we walk about one more kilometer; on the paved road, we keep left and arrive at the Almrauschhütte.

From Vienna: Take the South Motorway A2 to exit 69 Edlitz/Aspang. Continue on B54 via Kirchberg am Wechsel to St. Corona am Wechsel.
From Graz: Take the South Motorway A2 to exit 81 Aspang Markt. Continue on B54 via Aspang Markt and Unternberg to St. Corona am Wechsel.
From Bruck/Mur: Take the S6 Semmering expressway to the Gloggnitz exit. Continue via Kirchberg am Wechsel to St. Corona am Wechsel.
From Wr. Neustadt main station, take the regional train (direction Aspang-Markt) to the terminus, Aspang station. From there, take bus line 1762 of Retter Linien (direction Kirchberg/Wechsel Hotel Post) to the stop: St. Corona/Wechsel Kirche.
