Description

Leisurely hike from the Wexl Arena, downhill along the Mariazell Pilgrims' Trail to Kirchberg am Wechsel to Gasthof St. Wolfgang with the best home cooking.

safety instructions The route runs partly through forests and on unpaved paths. In snowy conditions, the paths are not cleared and may have icy or slippery spots. Use of the paths is at your own risk. It is recommended to be aware of the early dusk and to plan the routes carefully.
Equipment Sturdy footwear, poles (with snow baskets in snow), waterproof outdoor clothing, hat, gloves, scarf or multifunctional cloth, backpack, headlamp (days are shorter in winter), sunglasses, sun and/or cold protection, drinking bottle or thermos flask are essential in winter.
Route description From the Wexl Arena towards Unternberg. Next to the Ofnerhof of the Gruber family is the Chapel of Saint Clare - keep left there and follow the yellow signs to "Sachsenbrunn" down into the valley. Pass the Molzbachhof and take the first opportunity to turn right towards "Kirchberger Panoramaweg" until the main road. Turn left before the "Rosenvilla" and after 50m you reach the Gasthof St. Wolfgang.

Getting there From Vienna take the A2 South Motorway, take the Edlitz exit. Drive towards Aspang. Continue on Wechsel Road/B54 to Aspang. Take the third exit (Gutenberggasse) at the roundabout. Turn right onto Bahnstraße. Slightly turn right onto Mühlgasse, which curves slightly right and becomes Sonneck. Continue on L137 to Unternberg.From Graz take the A2 South Motorway, take the Aspang exit. Drive towards Aspang/Zöbern. Turn left onto L137 and follow it to Aspang. Turn right onto Hauptplatz and shortly after turn left onto Gottsbergergasse. Turn left onto Mühlgasse, which curves slightly right and becomes Sonneck. Continue on L137 to Unternberg.
Public transport From Wiener Neustadt Main Station, take the regional train (direction Aspang-Markt) to the final stop. Continue with regional bus 369 to the Unternberg or Wexl Arena stop.Information on the timetable can be found at VOR AnachB route planner
