Description

Mamauwiese is also the destination of this hike. The starting point is the valley station in Losenheim at the foot of the Schneeberg. At the Hotel Restaurant Forellenhof, at Lahning Inn or in the pizzeria Alpentaverne, you still have the chance to stop for a meal before heading uphill. You also pass by the Losenheim castle ruins. Wildly romantic and pleasantly cool in summer is the Sebastian waterfall. Then it goes through quiet forests over the Faden Graben up to the Mamauwiese, which is the starting point for numerous hiking trails. From here, you can comfortably return down into the valley after enjoying the view across to Schneeberg.

A stage of the Wiener Alpenbogen trail from Edelweißhütte at Schneeberg to Öhlerschutzhaus also runs over Mamauwiese.

Route description From the parking lot, we walk in the direction of Gschaiderhof. We follow the blue marker to Forellenhof, after 100 m the yellow marker leads us left to the waterfall. We continue hiking along the blue marker to Mamauwiese. The red marker leads us further uphill to the Mamauwiese inn (Attention: closed!). On the return, we follow the red marker towards Losenheim. Just before the ford, we turn right. Over the so-called Schabrunst, we keep left on the red marker and continue towards Losenheim to the valley station of the chairlift.

Getting there Arrival from Vienna:South Motorway A2 towards Wiener Neustadt until exit Wr. Neustadt West. From there along the federal road B26 towards Puchberg am Schneeberg. The route is well signposted.Arrival from Graz:South Motorway A2 towards Vienna until exit Wr. Neustadt West. From there along the federal road B26 towards Puchberg am Schneeberg. Follow the signs.
Public transport Take the train from Vienna or Graz to Wiener Neustadt. From there, take the regional train in the direction of Puchberg am Schneeberg to the final stop.Direct excursion train on weekends: Departure at 8:41 am from Vienna main station, return at 4:36 pm from Puchberg stationBuses also run (line 350 from Neunkirchen via Ternitz to Puchberg and line 330 from Pernitz to Puchberg).
