Experience Reichenau in the Prein an der Rax neighborhood on a leisurely stroll.
From the information kiosk, head toward the area known as Sonnleiten. As you pass by the lookout points, you’ll enjoy a fantastic view of Prein and the surrounding countryside, including the Prein Church (built in the Heiligenblut style). If you’d like to hike longer, you can combine the Sonnleiten loop with the Hollenstein loop .
Make sure that the route you choose corresponds to your experience and fitness level. Check the weather forecast in advance.
Running tips:
Start slowly to gradually get your circulation going. Take a short break with stretching exercises after about 10 minutes. Vary the pace to increase performance gain. Avoid overexertion, especially on steep sections — better to walk if your basic fitness is not sufficient. Include warm-up and cool-down phases. Let your run wind down and avoid stretching too hard afterwards!
Wear appropriate clothing and good running shoes. Think of rain and sun protection. Take enough to drink with you.
The starting point is the information kiosk Prein. Uphill along the street past the fire station and the Kaiserhof. Then turn right, cross the bridge and go uphill on the right past the farm to Sonnleitenstraße, which is crossed. Continue straight on a path to a junction, turn right down the street, before the bridge turn right, follow the stream slightly uphill, cross Sonnleitenstraße, continue straight to a bridge, here turn left and follow L135 back to the starting point.
