Circular hiking trail on forest paths to sunny meadows and farms in Wechselland
Hike from Orthof through the dense and shady Stangenwald forest towards St. Peter. Past sun-exposed farms and meadows to Unternberg and back to Orthof
Hiking: day hiking backpack (approx. 20 liters) with rain cover, sturdy and comfortable footwear, weather-appropriate and durable clothing in a layering system, optionally telescopic poles, sun and rain protection, provisions and drinking water, first aid kit, pocket knife, mobile phone, optionally headlamp, maps.
From the hiking start point at Gasthof Orthof, slightly uphill towards the south and follow the yellow signs with "St. Peter" on the forest road. After crossing the Simas lifts, continue towards St. Peter and follow the green tree markings. After about 1.5 hours, reach the Kampichler farm via St. Peter. From there, follow the yellow signs "Unternberg" and the red tree markings through Hansl at Feichten to Unternberg. At Ofnerhof, turn left towards Wexl Arena, past the parking lot back to Orthof.
Parking spaces are available at Gasthof Orthof or at the Wexl Arena.
From Vienna: A2 South Motorway to exit Edlitz-Aspang, continue on the Wechsel Federal Road B54 towards Aspang. Via L137 to St. Corona.
From Graz: On the A2 South Motorway exit Zöbern towards Aspang - via L137 to St. Corona.
By train via Wiener Neustadt to Aspang and from there by bus towards Kirchberg am Wechsel to the Wexl Arena St. Corona. Footpath via the Kugelbahnweg to GH Orthof, the starting point of the Ant Path. (On weekdays to the St. Corona/Wechsel Unternberg stop)
