Your hikes in the Vienna Alps should be a thoroughly beautiful and safe experience. Please therefore observe the following:
Preparation
Make sure that the chosen route matches your experience and fitness. Inform yourself in advance about the weather forecast. The weather in the mountains can change surprisingly fast. Always start out accordingly equipped (e.g. rain protection). Check whether the huts and snack stations you want to visit along the way are open. Inform someone about your chosen route and planned return before you set off.
Always take suitable hiking maps with you. Wear sturdy shoes adapted to the route, bring sun and rain protection as well as water and something to eat. Take your mobile phone with you and save the emergency numbers of rescue services: rescue 144 / mountain rescue 140
The route follows the signage of the regional route on the Vienna Alpine Arc towards Kirchschlag.
The route starts at the Krumbach municipal office. The first meters descend gently along Marktstraße. Before the bridge over Pfarrbach, the path turns left onto Tiefenbachstraße towards Katzentürl and Lindenhof. The street curves uphill to the right, followed by the Lindenhof farm road towards Bad Schönau. With a view of Krumbach castle, the Rosenkranz chapel is reached. Here the path turns left onto the red-marked forest trail, which also leads as Marienweg to Mariazell. On narrow paths the way passes the Place of Silence to the Strobl farmstead.
In a right curve, the path crosses the Tiefenbach on a wooden footbridge. At the next crossroads, the path leads right along a driveway with a central strip. After house No. 133 and shortly after a bridge, the path turns left at a rest area onto a house driveway. The path passes the house on the left, then curves right uphill along the hiking trail D9 and Marienweg. A few minutes later, after a left bend, the path goes immediately right and then steeply uphill. After about two minutes, a forest road is crossed. The forest path then flows into another forest road, where a right turn is made.
About 100 meters after leaving the forest, the path turns right onto a field path offering views of the Bacherbauer farm. The path leads left past the farm, gently uphill along a farm road until an asphalt road is reached. Here the path turns right to follow the panoramic road towards Kirchschlag for the next hour. Many noble families had the Kirchschlag castle as their residence; today the castle in the passion play location is freely accessible. From the Passion Play House in Kirchschlag, the path leads over a bridge of the Zöbernbach to Passion Play Street. Directly after the church and before the Zöbernbach, the path turns left onto the footpath. Shortly afterwards, the path changes to the right into Kirchengasse at the rose garden and continues over two bridges to the main square.
