Hiking tour Starting from Kirchberg a. Wechsel
The stage of the Marienweg leads from Kirchberg am Wechsel past the Hermannshöhle and the Ramswirt via Rams, Raach am Hochgebirge, Maria Schutz and Schottwien to Payerbach.
From Kirchberg, follow the road to the turn-off to the Ramssattel. Leave the road at the first left-hand bend. The path turns right and leads via Raach to Schlagl. Shortly afterwards you reach Maria Schutz, the most important place of pilgrimage in this region. There was already a chapel on the site of today's baroque church in the 17th century. It stood on the "Bründl spring", to which the sick were brought in the hope of being cured during a plague epidemic. From Maria Schutz, you hike downhill to Schottwien and then up to the Klammerkapelle chapel. On the "Bahnwanderweg" you follow the historic Semmering Railway, reach the village of Küb and then Payerbach.
