A short history lesson about the castle:
Seebenstein Castle was built between 1180 and 1230 and was owned by the Counts of Formbach. From 1403, the castle belonged to the Königsberg brothers, who carried out significant alterations. In 1824, the castle was sold to Prince Johannes von Liechtenstein, who romanticized it and had parts of it removed. Today, the castle is privately owned and houses a museum with around 40 rooms, works of art, paintings, statues of the Virgin Mary and a collection of weapons. Special features include the castle keep and the castle chapel with its triangular floor plan.
Make sure when choosing the route that it corresponds to your experience and fitness level. Check the weather forecast in advance. The weather in the mountains can change surprisingly fast. Therefore, always start out properly equipped (e.g. rain protection, snacks, drinks,...). Check whether the restaurants and huts you want to visit are open. Inform someone about your route choice and your planned return before you set off.
Always take suitable hiking maps with you. Wear sturdy shoes appropriate for the route, take sun and rain protection, as well as water and some food. Take your mobile phone with you and save the mountain rescue emergency number: 140
