Hiking tour Starting from Center of St. Lorenzen
From St. Lorenzen along shady forest paths to the Niederwechsel.
This regional route starts in the center of St. Lorenzen and leads past the church and cemetery out of the village. The trail continues uphill along shady forest paths and trails until it joins the Friedberg regional route at the Thalberger Schwaig. A little further uphill you will find the turn-off to the Glatzl-Trahütte, which is about 15 minutes' walk off the trail. As you continue through the forest, you also walk a short distance along a former Roman path. The wagon tracks are still clearly visible in the rock. As soon as the path leaves the forest, you come to the Vorauer Schwaig (not always farmed). From here, after a short climb across mountain meadows, you reach the Niederwechsel, where you meet the main alpannonia trail. On the often windy Niederwechsel, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the surrounding mountains and far into the plain.
