Starting from Podler towards Weiden, at the end of the village, directly at the village sign, we turn right into the fields, walk to the edge of the forest to take the path to the left there, and after 300 meters on the forest path turn right. We only follow this path briefly because we cross the forest on the left. Over the crest of the grove (old Greuten) we reach a small branch of the Weidenbach, follow it to a field path, and reach Weiden near Rechnitz via this path. We walk to the main road of the village, where we keep left and turn right near the church. Along the country road we branch off right after about 300 meters into a field path and again cross a forest, always heading north. We cross the country road between Unter- and Oberpodgoria that we reach and continue walking through a light forest.

Soon we reach a gravel road, which we follow for quite a long time (3.5 - 4 km) turning right. Attention: after a sharp bend at the Brotriegel, our path leads directly into the forest (left) after about 300 meters. It continues down a slope after the forest until we reach another forest path that leads us to the treetop walkway. Here we can use a rest area at the entrance. Later we follow the access road to the treetop walkway to the gravel road and then ascend the forest path on the left to Hirschenstein. Right at the widely visible transmission tower, we meet the alpannonia main route and are also at the summit of the Hirschenstein.
