As far back as about 200 years ago, weary hikers and pilgrims would stop at the Auerhahn to recharge with hearty, home-style cuisine. The inn is located right next to the Basilica of Maria Schutz and is the perfect place to stop for a break after a pilgrimage.
A Stop on a Hike
Hikers will also find a cozy place to rest here: After a hike on the Sonnwendstein, the inn is a worthwhile stop. Via the Gebirgsjägersteig takes you from the Sonnwendstein to Maria Schutz, and there are also varied routes leading from the Semmering to the village.
