Peace and quiet, a wonderfully fragrant green forest, birdsong, and a wealth of valuable information about the local flora await visitors to the nature trail in Wartmannstetten-Unterdanegg, which will reopen in 2025. Starting at the Posch log cabin wine tavern , the well-signposted trailleads along flat forest paths after an initial incline. Along the trail , 25 information panels provide visitors with details about native trees and wild herbs, explaining their active ingredients and their (historical) uses in folk medicine.
Since 2026, LUCKY the lucky clover has been accompanying young explorers along the nature trail. Ten different trees and plants invite the little ones to explore and discover through play. These plants are marked with LUCKY stickers and small treasure chests containing stamps. Once the stamp card is fully completed, the little explorers become “Herb Detectives” with their own ID cards.
Sturdy footwear is recommended for walking the loop trail. The loop trail is not stroller-friendly; it begins and ends at the Blockhausheurigen.
The LUCKY stamp cards and “Herb Detective” ID cards for the LUCKY Children’s Nature Trail are available right at the trail’s entrance and exit.
The brochures and ID cards are in the box; next to it is a small donation box with a request for a 1-euro contribution.
A guided tour of the nature trail is offered by certified herbal educator Susanne Höflinger. The tour includes a more in-depth description of the plants on display ( possible applications, culinary uses, historical background) as well as a comprehensive handout. Fee: 25 euros.
