Description

The former "Wiener Neustädter Haus" was built in 1926 by the Friends of Nature as a vacation camp. In 1987, the municipality acquired the building and transformed it into today's Alpine and Local History Museum with a great deal of dedication and loving attention to detail.

Today, the museum offers exciting insights into the history and nature of the Hohe Wand region. The exhibition covers a wide range of topics:

  • Alpinism - including the "priest in mountaineering garb"
  • Speleology - more than 180 caves in the Hohe Wand region
  • Mining - an important source of income over the last 100 years
  • Roman settlement - Roman stone tomb and grave goods
  • Treasure chamber - natural treasures of the Hohe Wand

Guided tours are available for groups by prior arrangement.
