The Waldschlössl, with its eventful history (the first noble residence in the Upper Schwarzatal Valley around the year 1150, operated as a guesthouse as early as the imperial era and later as a health resort) was completely renovated in 2019 and 2020 and now offers exclusively modernly furnished vacation apartments and rooms in a truly unique building. All apartments and rooms feature underfloor heating; the floors are tiled in the entryways and wet areas and covered with high-quality vinyl in the bedrooms and living areas. All showers are walk-in (no step), and all bedrooms and living rooms offer an unparalleled view over Schneedörfl and Reichenau toward the Rax and the Semmering region.
The Rax and Schneeberg apartments each feature a kitchen-living room and two bedrooms. The master bedrooms feature solid-wood double beds (a four-poster bed in the Rax apartment), while the children’s rooms have bunk beds, also made of solid wood. The Rax apartment accommodates five people, and the Schneeberg apartment accommodates four. The south-facing balcony attached to the Rax Apartment, with its magnificent view, is large enough for dining or simply relaxing.
The Zita and Leno rooms each have their own bathroom and toilet and can accommodate four and two people, respectively.
Since a vacation at the Waldschlössl is meant to be as sustainable as possible without compromising on comfort (for example, geothermal energy is used for heating, the soaps are regional natural cosmetics, and we grow our own fruits and vegetables in the garden) and because the Payerbach-Reichenau train station is just a 10- to 15-minute walk away (though you can’t hear the train), guests arriving by public transportation receive a 10% discount on room rates.
