The Hallerhaus am Wechsel is one of those huts that you immediately fall in love with. It is located around 30 minutes' walk from the Mönichkirchen summit station and is popular with hikers and skiers alike. Situated at around 1,400 meters, nestled in the vast Schwaigen of the Wechselgebirge mountains, it is a place to take a deep breath - with a view that stretches far beyond the peaks of the Vienna Alps.
Those who stop here immediately sense the special hut atmosphere. The cuisine is prepared with regional ingredients, with a down-to-earth yet fresh interpretation. The menu includes classic hut dishes, which are particularly good after a hike or ski tour, as well as seasonal specialties from Lower Austria. Homemade soups, warming stews and freshly baked pastries are just as popular with guests as the hearty main courses, which have their origins in regional tradition.
In summer, the sun terrace invites you to enjoy a break with a panoramic view, while in winter the proximity to the ski slopes of the Erlebnisalm Mönichkirchen makes the Hallerhaus the ideal place for a stop-off. Many guests also use the hut as a starting point for hikes on the alpannonia® long-distance hiking trail or as a stage for tours lasting several days.
