When the hills gradually turn into mountains and the scenery slowly passes by, you really start to appreciate the beauty of a cycle tour. These impressions can be particularly enjoyed from May to October on the "Vom Buckl zum Berg" cycle tour, which takes you to places with great views and many an excellent inn. From booking accommodation to resting with special cyclist menus, everything has already been prepared.
The sporting and culinary challenge not only challenges your calves, but also your sense of taste. As well as fantastic views, there is always time to visit selected Lower Austrian inns, including the Krumbacherhof and the 2019 Top Inn winner, Wirtshaus Grüner Baum.
Check the weather forecast in advance, and be sure to bring rain gear and sunscreen. Be sure to bring plenty to drink.
We recommend wearing a bike helmet on rides. Wear appropriate clothing and sturdy shoes.
Armed with a packed lunch, the route continues from the Alpine-style country inn “Zur Schubertlinde” in the Schneebergland region into the Steinfeld area, passing through Willendorf and St. Egyden. Passing through Schwarzau am Steinfeld and Föhrenau, you’ll now reach the spa towns of the Northern Bucklige Welt. Here, you can enjoy your packed lunch at one of the beautiful scenic overlooks along the way. Near Bad Erlach, you’ll rejoin EuroVelo 9, which takes you along the edges of the forest, past Seebenstein Castle and the Türkensturz ruins, all the way to Grimmenstein. The final stretch then goes through Edlitz and Thomasberg to Krumbach—where the tour concludes at the Krumbacherhof, where a pasta buffet awaits you to cap off the day.
