Description
Is it possible to grow your own fruit and vegetables on a plot of land measuring just 580 m2, on which there is also a small house? Without hard work and large investments?
Since 2019, Irene Treitner has been cultivating her vegetable garden, which was created using permaculture principles and without digging. A wide range of varieties thrive in the vegetable beds. The gardener is particularly fond of the variety of tomatoes. They are harvested all year round, because even in winter there are many types of vegetables that can be taken straight from the bed into the kitchen.
14 different fruit trees, 6 different types of berries and 4 vines have found their place in the garden so far. In 2022, a total of 400 kg of fruit and vegetables were harvested from the small garden, and with vertical gardening and winter gardening, this is set to gradually increase. Soil life plays an important role here, as do wild bees, tiger snails and other animal co-inhabitants.
On a guided garden tour, Irene Treitner is happy to share her experiences of vegetable gardening without hard work - but with nature.
