Description

One of many beautiful hiking trails in and around Grimmenstein is the waterway. It leads hiking enthusiasts along the Pitten through a varied environment. The starting point is the town hall square in Grimmenstein, which is the center of social life depending on the season. From there, the path extends north, passing huts to Petersbaumgarten. There, hikers can refresh themselves at the Gasthaus Pichler. Then continue through the valley settlement along the Kegelbach. A small section of the path slowly leads back towards Grimmenstein through a wooded area. Especially in summer with high temperatures, the little forest offers variety and above all shade. The last part of the path resembles the beginning, and when you finally reach the town hall square, you can end the day there in a relaxed manner.

Accessibility:

Between Grimmenstein and Petersbaumgarten, the path is well suited for strollers and wheelchair users. There, the path can either be walked back or you can return to Grimmenstein via the train station in Petersbaumgarten.

Route description The starting point of the route is the town hall square. From there, the path leads over Schulgasse and the Oberer Auweg. Following the signposts towards Petersbaumgarten, turn left along the Pitten on the Thermal Cycle Path. In Petersbaumgarten, there is a right turn past the motorway maintenance depot. Shortly afterwards, the Gasthaus Pichler is reached, where the federal road is crossed at the same level. Along the Kegelbach, the path leads to the Ursula spring near the valley settlement. Then continue to the right, heading south, through the forest back to Grimmenstein, following the signs towards Grimmenstein (marked with G2).The Kieneggerstraße is reached and the federal road is crossed again. Through huts and over the Weidensteg, it goes back to the Oberer Auweg, which is followed to Schulgasse. This ends directly at the starting point, the town hall square.The path is marked with G2.

Editor’s tip The Gasthaus Pichler is closed on Wednesdays, otherwise it offers hearty home-style cooking as well as accommodation possibilities.
