Tour Starting from Puchberg Train Station
A beautiful hike to the Öhlerschutzhaus.
A beautiful hike to the Öhlerschutzhaus.
Part of the tour runs through forests and along unpaved trails. When there is snow on the ground, the trails are not cleared and may have icy or slippery sections.
Use of the trails is at your own risk. It is recommended that you be mindful of the early twilight and plan your hikes carefully.
Sturdy footwear, hiking poles (with snow baskets if there’s snow), waterproof outdoor clothing, a hat, gloves, a scarf or multifunctional scarf, a backpack, a headlamp (days are shorter in winter), sunglasses, sun and/or cold protection, and a water bottle or thermos are essential in winter.
The starting point is at the parking lot by the train station. From here, we walk to the railroad crossing on the B26 (near the Hotel Schneeberghof) and follow Wr. Neustädter Straße to the Spar supermarket. There, we turn onto Sierningstraße and walk along it for about 2.5 km. This is where the Öhlerweg begins, and we follow the blue trail markers along the forest path to the Öhlerschutzhaus. After a delicious snack, we hike back along the same route.
