The mountain hut (1,190 m), located about 150 meters below the Unterberg summit, is a popular destination for hikers, ski tourers, and pilgrims on their way to Mariazell. The adjacent alpine meadows and the playground also make the shelter an ideal excursion destination for families.
From the parking lot at the former inn “Im Gries” in Rohr im Gebirge, it takes about 1.5 to 2 hours to reach the shelter; from Muggendorf via the Enziansteig trail, it takes about 3 hours.
Hours: January 2 through the first week of November, and December 8 through December 31 of each year. Closed Mondays and Tuesdays (except on holidays)
