The "Path of Views" offers wonderful views and is also a beautiful tour in winter for well-equipped hikers.
"If you don't have a destination in mind, you can't get anywhere". Short texts and quotes by the Lower Austrian writer Ernst Ferstl encourage hikers on the "Path of Views" to reflect. Several boards along the 100-minute, easy circular hiking trail allow hikers to pause and take in the landscape and nature.
Bad Schönau also offers numerous hiking opportunities in winter. The "Path of Views" takes you through the districts of Ortbauer and Maierhöfen. After the hike, Bad Schönau offers numerous places to stop for refreshments and overnight stays to warm up, as well as the spa gardens, which are a wonderfully peaceful place to relax in winter too.
Your hikes in the Vienna Alps should be a thoroughly pleasant and safe experience. Please note the following:
Preparation
Particularly in winter, exercise special caution. Make sure that the chosen route matches your experience and fitness. Check the weather forecast beforehand. Always set off well equipped (e.g., hat, gloves, etc.). Keep in mind that it gets dark as early as 4:00 p.m. in winter.
Check whether the huts and snack stations you wish to visit are open. Inform someone about your route choice and planned return before setting off.
Attention:
Note, this hiking trail runs on natural paths, which are not cleared in snowy conditions and may be slippery. Use is at your own risk. Pay attention to early dusk and plan your tours carefully. Drink enough water even in winter.
On the route, take appropriate equipment with sturdy winter shoes, waterproof clothing, and headgear. Bring water and a snack. Make sure to drink enough even in winter. Bring suitable maps and your mobile phone. Save the emergency numbers of rescue services: Rescue 144 / Mountain rescue 140
