We want your hikes in the Vienna Alps to be an enjoyable and safe experience in every way. Therefore, please note the following:
Preparation
When choosing a route, make sure it matches your mountain experience and physical fitness. Check the weather forecast in advance. The weather in the mountains can change surprisingly quickly. Therefore, always set out with the appropriate gear (e.g., rain gear).
Check to see if the huts and snack bars you plan to visit along the way are open. Let someone know your route and your planned return time before you set out.
You can find more safety tips for your hike here.
Always bring appropriate maps with you. Wear sturdy shoes suitable for the hike, and bring sunscreen, rain gear, water, and a light snack. Bring your cell phone and save the mountain rescue emergency number: 140
Starting from the train station, turn right, then left at the pizzeria "Zum Spitz." At the bus stop, turn right into the Nature Adventure Park. At the fork in the path, keep right and walk past the outdoor pool (on your left). Shortly after, you’ll reach a pond; walk around the back end of it. Then continue to the right until you reach a T-intersection. Turn left there, passing the tennis courts and the outdoor pool, back to the main street in town. Follow this street to the right until you reach the junction for Pitten/Bad Erlach or Wiener Neustadt/Sautern. Turn left here, cross the Pitten River, and then turn left. The path now runs along the river for a short distance. At the end, turn left along the railroad path, then right onto Schulallee, and then left onto Alter Postweg until you reach the main street again. Then follow the road to the right and walk back to the train station.
Parking is available in town.
From Vienna and Graz: Take the A2 Südautobahn to the Seebenstein exit; turn right at Ampen and then left shortly afterward into the town of Seebenstein.
