We recommend wearing a bike helmet on rides. Wear appropriate clothing and sturdy shoes. Remember to bring protection from the rain and sun. Be sure to bring plenty to drink.
We start the loop heading toward the federal highway, cross it, and ride past the Krumbacherhof. The signs for “Scenic Route No. 3” lead us past the Eis Greissler to the Weisses Kreuz, across the federal highway, and then continue following the signs. Just before the scenic route takes a sharp right turn, we leave the route and follow the connecting path to Kaltenberg. There, continue along the connecting path toward Lichtenegg until you reach the turnoff for the wind turbine—turn left there. We are now on “Wind Turbine Route No. 5.” Pass the wind turbine and follow the signs through the village of Hollenthon. In Spratzau, the Wetter Route and the Wind Turbine Route converge; from there, continue on “Wetter Route No. 4” until you reach Blumau. In Blumau, follow the connecting path to Kirchschlag and on to Stang. In Stang, the Rosengarten Route leads to Aigen. In Aigen, we switch to the Panorama Route, which takes us to Bad Schönau. There, we can use the Zöbernbach Bike Path to Krumbach or ride along the federal highway.
There is plenty of parking in the town center (municipal parking lot) of Krumbach.
From Vienna: Take the A2 Südautobahn and exit at Krumbach. Continue to the Krumbach interchange. Continue on Kirchschlager Str./B55 to Krumbach.
From Graz: Take the A2 Südautobahn and exit at Aspang-Zöbern. Turn right onto the L137. Continue on Kampichl and Hauptstraße. In Zöbern, Hauptstraße turns left and becomes Austraße. Follow the L137 to Unterhaus near Krumbach, then turn left toward Krumbach.
Krumbach is easily accessible by public transportation. From Vienna and Graz, the Wr. Neustadt train station is easily accessible; from there, the Südbahn runs every half hour to the Edlitz-Grimmenstein station, and from there you can continue on the VOR regional bus to the Krumbach Ortsmitte stop.
