Hiking tour Starting from Kirchschlag Passion Play Theater in the Bucklige Welt
The Passion Plays have been held in Kirchschlag in the Bucklige Welt region since 1932. The Passion Play Theater, built specifically for this purpose, is the starting point for this short hike through the forest, which features 20 stations. The information panels provide insights into the history, performance venues, and people behind the Passion Plays. Thanks to QR codes, this information can also be accessed online.

Preparation
When choosing a route, make sure it matches your experience and fitness level. Check the weather forecast in advance. The weather in the mountains can change surprisingly quickly. Therefore, always set out with the appropriate gear (e.g., rain gear). Check to see if the huts and snack bars you plan to visit along the way are open. Let someone know your route and your planned return time before you set out.
Wear sturdy shoes suitable for the hike, and bring sunscreen, rain gear, water, and a light snack. Bring your cell phone and save the emergency numbers for emergency services: Emergency Services 144 / Mountain Rescue 140
Start at the Passion Play Theater, head toward the cemetery, and from there continue straight ahead up the steps along the wall into the forest. The first sign is already there in front of the steps. The first section is a bit steep, but the path levels out later on. In the forest, follow the various signs; later, the forest trail leads to the meadow above the cemetery wall. From there, you’ll have a beautiful view of Kirchschlag. Walk along the wall, back to the steps, and to the Passionsspielhaus.

From Vienna: Take the A2 Südautobahn and exit at Krumbach. Continue to the Krumbach interchange. Continue on Kirchschlager Str./B55 to Kirchschlag.
From Graz: Take the A2 Südautobahn and exit at Aspang-Zöbern. Turn right onto the L137. Continue toward Kampichl and Hauptstraße. In Zöbern, Hauptstraße turns left and becomes Austraße. Follow the L137 to Unterhaus near Krumbach, then turn right toward Kirchschlag.
Take the train to the Edlitz/Grimmenstein station, then take the regional bus to "Gemeindeamt" in Kirchschlag. Continue on foot along Kirchengasse, past the rose garden, turn left at the intersection, pass the church, then turn left again onto Feldgasse until you reach the playground.
