Description

On the beautiful circular hike, you go through the Haselgraben uphill towards Waldbauer, where some viewpoints await hikers. At around 800 meters altitude, you can enjoy a view of the Wechsel and the hilly landscape of the Bucklige Welt. A very special point on the way is the Steinkreis viewpoint. Set among trees and man-made, the Steinkreis invites you to rest on the stone blocks and look inward. Via field paths and paved paths, the route continues through forests and meadows back to the starting point, the Schlosswirtshaus. After the hike, you can refresh yourself there or look down to Krumbach. In less than an hour of walking, you can reach the Gasthof Heissenberger, Piri's Gasthaus, or the Krumbacherhof. Those who booked in advance can also enjoy culinary delights at the nearby Triad.

There are many hiking options from the castle, for example on a regional route of the Weg am Wiener Alpenbogen.

Route description The starting point is at the Schlosswirtshaus. From there, follow the red markings. Turn right towards Hochhalt/Steinkreis into the Hauswald until you reach the Mirtlwiesen junction. Then go left uphill to Simon Koisser (small country house), then continue right uphill towards Hochhalt/Steinkreis Brenner. After the forest, there is an old farmhouse, which is Hochhalt. Continue along the field path to the next fork, left towards "Steinkreis, Schloss". Pass the farmhouse above to the Steinkreis, from the Steinkreis follow the forest to the Glöckl junction, along the road, continue to Pollak Feichten, then down the road on the right to the Schlosswirtshaus.
Parking Parking is available at the Schlosswirtshaus.
Getting there From Vienna: Take the A2 South Motorway, exit at Krumbach. Continue on the Krumbach connector. Continue on Kirchschlager Str./B55. Turn right onto L137. Slight left onto Schlossstraße. Continue on Schloss, follow signs to Schlosswirtshaus.From Graz: Take the A2 South Motorway, exit at Aspang-Zöbern. Turn right onto L137. Continue on Kampichl and Hauptstraße. Hauptstraße bends left in Zöbern and becomes Austraße. Follow L137 to Unterhaus near Krumbach then turn sharp right onto Schlossstraße. Continue to Schlosswirtshaus.
