Description

This beautiful circular hike takes you up through the Haselgraben towards Waldbauer, where several viewpoints await hikers. At an altitude of around 800 meters, you can enjoy a view of the Wechsel and the hilly landscape of the Bucklige Welt. A very special point along the way is the stone circle viewpoint. Set between trees and created by human hands, the stone circle invites you to rest on the stone blocks and look inwards. The trail leads back to the starting point, the Schlosswirtshaus, via country lanes and paved paths through woods and meadows. After the hike, you can enjoy refreshments there or look down to Krumbach. In less than an hour's walk, you can reach Gasthof Heissenberger, Piri's Gasthaus or Krumbacherhof. If you have booked in advance, you can also stop off at the nearby Triad and indulge in culinary delights.

There are also many hiking opportunities from the castle, for example on a regional route of the Weg am Wiener Alpenbogen - Arc of the Viennese Alps (trail).

Route description The starting point is at the Schlosswirtshaus. From there, follow the red markings. Turn right towards Hochhalt/Steinkreis into the Hauswald until you reach the Mirtlwiesen junction. Then go left uphill to Simon Koisser (small country house), then continue right uphill towards Hochhalt/Steinkreis Brenner. After the forest, there is an old farmhouse, which is Hochhalt. Continue along the field path to the next fork, left towards "Steinkreis, Schloss". Pass the farmhouse above to the Steinkreis, from the Steinkreis follow the forest to the Glöckl junction, along the road, continue to Pollak Feichten, then down the road on the right to the Schlosswirtshaus.

Getting there From Vienna: Take the A2 South Motorway, exit at Krumbach. Continue on the Krumbach connector. Continue on Kirchschlager Str./B55. Turn right onto L137. Slight left onto Schlossstraße. Continue on Schloss, follow signs to Schlosswirtshaus.From Graz: Take the A2 South Motorway, exit at Aspang-Zöbern. Turn right onto L137. Continue on Kampichl and Hauptstraße. Hauptstraße bends left in Zöbern and becomes Austraße. Follow L137 to Unterhaus near Krumbach then turn sharp right onto Schlossstraße. Continue to Schlosswirtshaus.
