Cycling tour Starting from s'Hutwisch Inn in Hochneukirchen
This circular cycle tour is more than 650 meters in altitude, but the views are worth it: they extend over the 1000 hills of the Bucklige Welt, to the Schneeberg, into southern Burgenland and Styria. Winding, little-used roads with ups and downs ensure driving pleasure through Lower Austria, Burgenland and Styria and lead past the Dreiländerstein.
The route follows the road, so be mindful of traffic at all times and use hand signals when turning. When choosing a route, make sure it is appropriate for your experience and fitness level. Check the weather forecast and find out about places to stop for refreshments in advance.
Wear a helmet, appropriate clothing, and sturdy shoes. Remember to bring rain gear and sun protection. Be sure to bring plenty to drink and your cell phone.
The route starts in the center of Hochneukirchen and initially heads south through Maltern into Burgenland. From there, continue on to Tauchen, where you’ll turn right. At the next T-intersection, continue left, then turn right again toward Willersdorf. Drive through the town, and the road continues north for quite a distance before crossing the border into Styria. The Three-Country Stone is located nearby. After Götzendorf, the route leads back into Lower Austria. After Gschaidt, there’s a winding stretch before heading back to Hochneukirchen.
Tip: The tour can also be started from Bad Schönau. To do this, the connecting route first follows the main street, past the fortified church and up a steep hill. The route continues via Groß-Buchegg to Almen. The final stretch of the connecting path follows the main road to the s’Hutwisch inn in the center of Hochneukirchen.
Public parking spaces are available within the municipal area
