The Heuriger 8er Grund in Matzendorf is run by the second generation of the Grund family as a Buschenschank (typical tavern). The family has deep roots in the community and values building good relationships and engaging in lively conversations with their guests. Only Austrian and regional products are used for the homemade Heuriger delicacies—traditional Heuriger fare is still prepared on-site, the bratwurst recipe is passed down within the family, and the blood sausage and pressed sausage are “tasted” as they’re being prepared.
In 1970, Johann Grund Sr. and Jr. planted the first grapevines; in 1974, the wine tavern opened for the first time at Höllesstraße 13; and since 1984, the wine tavern has been located at its current address, Höllesstraße 4. Coziness, tradition, and a family-friendly atmosphere are the focus.
