Cycling host “Hotel Post”: Recharge your batteries in the heart of Austria’s “Bucklige Welt”

Leisure and e-bikers will find rustic accommodation along the Zöbernbach cycle path

Hotel Post Hönigwirt is the ideal starting point for excursions into Austria’s “Bucklige Welt”: If you pedal diligently, you get the “Kirchschlager Dalkenberg” as a sweet reward.

Respect: the fifth generation of the Hönig family has been cooking for their guests since 1884. The innkeeper still goes from table to table here, chatting with his guests who dine in a wood-panelled parlour. As a certified Viennese Alpine Cycling Host, the “Hönigwirt” would like to appeal in particular to leisure bikers who like to take it easy when cycling: a package offer includes an e-bike for one day, a picnic basket and a massage for – more or less – tired calves.

The perfect starting point for many tours

Those who want to discover the “Bucklige Welt” on two wheels can start right in the house driveway: for example, on the family-friendly Zöbernbach cycle path, which is part of the “Panorama” and “Wehrkirchenweg” routes. Or on the “Rosengarten Route”, which can be linked with the “Panorama Route” to create a larger tour.

Travel light

Forgotten your saddle bag or bicycle mobile phone holder? The Hönigwirt also rents out useful accessories – such as drinking bottles and bicycle helmets. The in-house e-charging station gets e-bikes ready again for tomorrow’s action. If you want to start a bike tour a few kilometres away, you can hire the Hönigwirt shuttle for up to five people including space for the bikes.

On the culinary tour

If you cycle during the day, you can feast in the evening: You should definitely try the house speciality: the Kirchschlager Dalkenberg with cinnamon yoghurt and vanilla ice cream. Barbecues are organised on warm summer nights. And: if it’s your birthday, you get breakfast for free.
