About an hour-long hike from Flatz near Ternitz to the Neunkirchner House on the Flatzer Wand.
Description
The Neunkirchner House lies at 758 meters above sea level on the Kranzstetten and is open year-round on weekends. In close proximity to the Flatzer Wand, the hut can also be reached via various via ferratas, with more than 100 climbing routes. The Flatzer Wand also offers a large number of caves. The Neunkirchner House is, of course, also comfortably accessible from Flatz by hiking trails. Those with a big appetite are in the right place here because the pork roast is served in an XXL version. The hut is also located in the Sierningtal-Flatzer Wand Nature Park. In the 16 km² large protected landscape area there are hiking trails, mountain bike routes (for example the Kettenlus route), children's playgrounds, animal enclosures, ponds, fitness trails, over 300 resting places and a viewing tower. The Neunkirchner House can also be reached from Stixenstein. Here is the animal enclosure and nature park center.

Route description Hike to the Neunkirchner House (from Flatz)
Our route follows the green marking. We start westwards over Wandstraße. At the left curve into Gösinggasse towards Waldbauer, we turn right onto the path. We keep straight ahead until we reach a crossroads at 720 meters altitude. Here we turn right uphill and continue to keep right until we reach the Neunkirchner House.

From Vienna: Take the A2 South Motorway exit Neunkirchen East and merge towards Neunkirchen-East/Wr.Neustadt center. Drive on Neunkirchner Straße/B17. In Neunkirchen turn right onto Rohrbacherstraße/B26. Turn right onto Mahrersdorfer Straße. Turn right onto St. Lorenzer Straße. Keep left and continue on Flatzer Straße to Flatz.
From Graz: Take the A2 to S6 and take exit Neunkirchen. At Neunkirchen exit drive towards Neunkirchen/B17. Continue on Neunkirchen junction. Turn right onto Semmeringstraße/B17. Turn left onto Rohrbacherstraße/B26. Turn right onto Mahrersdorfer Straße. Turn right onto St. Lorenzer Straße. Keep left and continue on Flatzer Straße to Flatz.
Parking
No larger parking lot available in Flatz. Park on the roadside or at a wine tavern.
Take the Southern Railway (direction Payerbach-Reichenau) to Ternitz station. From here continue with regional bus 1722 (direction St. Lorenzen am Steinfeld) to Flatz street intersection East.
Attention: the regional bus stops in Flatz at very irregular times, please observe the timetable!
