Brief description

The Almrauschhütte is located above St. Corona on the Wechsel at 1250m and is easily accessible from the church in the town center via forest roads.

Description

Right at the pilgrimage church in St. Corona you can start the ascent to the Almrauschhütte. Passing the Gasthof Ödenhof, the hike goes up forest roads towards Kampstein. You can refresh yourself along the way at the Gasthof Orthof. The Almrauschhütte lies below the Kampstein summit (1467m). In good visibility, a great view over Schneeberg and Rax to Vienna and over the Bucklige Welt to Lake Neusiedl and Hungary is offered. The hut is not serviced. Drinks from April to October are self-service (vending machine on site). A large terrace invites you to relax. Here you can enjoy the peace and the view.

Alternative ascent routes start at Ödenhof (about 1 hour) or from Orthof (about 45 minutes), as well as from the other direction at the Herrgottschnitzer Hut (about 25 minutes) or from the Kampsteiner Schwaig (about 35 minutes) on the Wechsel.
