Description
In just 30 minutes, the Schneeberg Salamander Railway takes you from the valley station up to the Baumgartner station at 1,322 meters altitude. There, during the season – according to the operating times of the Schneebergbahn – you can enjoy the famous Schneeberg Buchteln with various fillings. That is why the stop is also known as Buchtel Station. Of course, it is also possible to reach the stop on foot via this route.

Route description Hike from Puchberg to Baumgartner stop
We start in the town center of Puchberg am Schneeberg. We follow the black marking to the Puchberg circular hiking route. We walk along Schneebergstraße and turn left into Muthenhofer Straße. We follow this and then turn right into Hengstbergweg. We pass the Hubertus chapel and continue towards Schneebergdörfl. At Halmerhof - riding stable and Gasthof Zwinz, we turn left into Schneebergstraße. From here, we follow the red marking. At the volunteer fire brigade Schneebergdörfl, we turn left and continue to follow Schneebergstraße. We go straight ahead and come to a path. From here, we follow the yellow marking. We follow the hiking trail uphill until we reach the rack railway tracks. We turn right and walk along the tracks and after a few hundred meters reach the Baumgartner stop.

Coming from Vienna, take the A2 to the Wr. Neustadt West exit. Take the B26 to Puchberg am Schneeberg.
Coming from Graz, take the A2 and the S6 to the Neunkirchen exit. Follow the B26 to Puchberg am Schneeberg.
