Galerie Gut Gasteil
Description
In the small community of Prigglitz, you can experience art in the open air from spring to late fall. On an area of around 16 hectares, works by international artists are continually renewed and presented. Impressive sculptures and installations blend harmoniously into the picturesque landscape. In addition to art in the landscape, the gallery presents changing exhibitions on the premises of the historic estate.
Gallery and organic farming
Products from the estate's own farm - including meat from unfattened Jura sheep, hides and wool, fruit juices, brandies, fruit, nuts and much more - can be tasted and purchased directly on site.
Architecture and history
The stately estate on the sunny southern slope above Gloggnitz was built between 1920 and 1924 by the Viennese client and lawyer Dr. Max Silberberg. It was designed by the architect Hubert Gessner. Gessner is also known for important residential buildings in Vienna, including the Reumannhof on the Margaretengürtel and the Lasallehof on the Reichsbrücke. Gut Gasteil still conveys the ambience of an upper-class summer villa from the interwar period.
Around Gut Gasteil
Gut Gasteil is easily accessible both by car and by public transport. It is also located directly on popular hiking and cycling trails. From here, numerous routes lead up the Gahns to rustic huts such as the Waldburgangerhütte or the Pottschacherhütte. This makes the estate an ideal destination for art-loving excursionists, pleasure hikers and sporty cyclists.
