Stadtpark Wiener Neustadt - along the city wall
Description
When countless tulips, crocuses and daffodils add their splashes of color in spring, you know that winter has passed - and blooming life is returning to the "Nature in the Garden" show garden-certified city park. In early summer, the freshly revitalized rose garden unfolds its fragrant sea of flowers, while the colourful perennial beds show off their full diversity in summer. Autumn transforms the park into a warm, glowing sea of color, where special lighting moods invite you to stroll around. And in winter, when peace and quiet returns, snow lilies bloom sporadically and the Advent season creates a unique, festive atmosphere with the floating Advent wreath in the pond.
The city park not only offers pleasant walking paths, but also a large children's playground. Dogs are also welcome on a lead. On the way to the city park, coming from the original west gate of the city, you will come across well-preserved parts of the city wall, steeped in history, which formed the fortification of the city from the 12th century onwards. You can also see Austria's oldest Hebrew gravestone from 1252, which is displayed along the city wall together with other exhibits.
To mark the 150th anniversary in 2022, the historic rose garden was brought back to life. The pond shines in new splendor after a comprehensive overhaul, while a modern dry garden complements the park's diversity. New zones serve as the basis for future projects relating to art, culture, youth and nature.
