The Rax cable car in winter

Snowshoeing on the snow-assured high plateau with well-marked routes.

Do you want to leave the dreary everyday behind? In just 8 minutes, the Rax cable car takes its passengers up to approximately 1,400 metres (4,593 feet) above sea level, into a winter paradise for snowshoeing and winter sports. The relatively flat terrain and the clear network of trails make alpine experiences possible for beginners as well.

The Rax – your snowshoeing mountain

When snowshoeing, winter visitors are able to walk through the magical snow-covered winter wonderland – an inexpensive and safe winter pursuit for the whole family. Snowshoeing is easy to learn and healthy for the motor and cardiovascular systems.

Marked routes

Several marked snowshoeing routes across the extensive high plateau start from the Raxalm Mountain Guesthouse – the mountain station of the Rax cable car, with excellent cuisine and overnight accommodation – to the Ottohaus, to the Höllental viewpoint or to the Preiner Wand cross near the Neue Seehütte. The approximately 60-minute round trip, known as the “Gatterlkreuz” completes the set of wintry routes available.

Snowshoe hire and guided tours

In the Raxalm Mountain Guesthouse, you will find a snowshoe hire station with high-quality rental equipment for the whole family (online reservation required). Guided snowshoeing tours (half-day tours, whole-day tours or family tours) promise a safe mountain experience and a great time for the whole group.
