Wanderstartplatz Semmering

The hiking starting point at the top of the Semmering Pass is the perfect starting point for a variety of tours. From there, you can immediately see the Hirschenkogel, which can be reached in around an hour, and numerous Excursion destinations offers numerous excursion destinations. From there, the trail continues up the Sonnwendstein to the Pollereshütte. Those who prefer a more leisurely pace can discover the most beautiful sides of the Semmering on small circular trails such as the Südhangrunde or the Kleine Zauberblickrunde. An excursion to the Maria Schutz pilgrimage site is also worthwhile. The Pinkenkogel impresses both in summer and winter with breathtaking views of the Rax and Schneeberg. The Eselstein, once the building rock of Karl Ritter von Ghega, is a highlight for all those who love spectacular viewpoints. Another recommendation is the golf course circuit, which leads to the oldest golf course in Austria.

Getting to the hiking starting point

Arrival by public transport

Take the train toSemmering station, a traditional stop along the Southern Railway. The hiking starting point is approx. 20 minutes' walk away. Alternatively, you can take the RUFbus Semmering-Rax (bus stop SE13 Passhöhe Semmering) to the hiking starting point. The regional bus line 343 also provides a good connection.

Arrival by car

From Vienna , take the A2 Südautobahn onto the S6 Semmering-Schnellstraße and take the Maria Schutz exit. Turn right onto L4168. Continue on Semmering/L4168, Semmeringstraße and Passstraße to B306.

From Graz take the S6 Semmering expressway and take the Spital/Semmering exit. Turn left onto Semmering Ersatz Str./B306. Continue on the B306.

Parking spaces are available at the top of the pass.
