Wanderstartplatz Bahnhof Semmering

The hiking starting point at Semmering railroad station is the ideal starting point for numerous tours along the UNESCO World Heritage Semmering Railway. Particularly popular is the railroad hiking trailwhich leads from Semmering via Breitenstein and Klamm to Gloggnitz or Payerbach. The Semmering is also known for its many impressive views. views - such as the famous 20-Schilling-Blick or the Doppelreiterwarte, which can be discovered on the small or large Zauberblickerunde. There are also varied hikes to the Hirschenkogel, the Sonnwendstein or in the direction of Prein. Leisurely circular hiking trails or challenging stage hikes also start at the Hiking starting point at the top of the Semmering Pass.

Getting to the hiking starting point

Public arrival

The hiking experience begins at Semmering railroad station, a traditional stop along the Southern Railway. The hiking starting point is right next to the station and can be reached by train as well as with the RUFbus Semmering-Rax (bus stop SE17 Semmering station).

Arrival by car

From Vienna , take the A2 Südautobahn onto the S6 Semmering-Schnellstraße and take the Maria Schutz exit. Turn right onto L4168. Continue on Semmering/L4168, Semmeringstraße and Passstraße to B306.

From Graz take the S6 Semmering expressway and take the Spital/Semmering exit. Turn left onto Semmering Ersatz Str./B306. Continue on B306.

World Heritage Information Center

At Semmering railroad station you will also find the information center about the UNESCO World Heritage Semmering Railway. Open from May to October, it provides fascinating insights into the history and construction of the Semmering Railway in the 19th century.
