Klamm-Schottwien railway station
Train stationDescription
The Klamm-Schottwien station on the Kobermannsberg is a stop on the Südbahn - the historic Semmering Railway in the Vienna Alps. Particularly exciting: the cliff drops almost vertically down to Schottwien. In addition to regional trains to Payerbach-Reichenau, Semmering and Mürzzuschlag, express trains to Vienna and Mürzzuschlag also stop here.
The safe highlight of this section of the railroad line is the approximately 190-metre-long gorge tunnel. Its construction in 1851 was considered an extremely difficult and dangerous undertaking. Today, the Klamm castle ruins are an adventurous eye-catcher for rail travelers leaving the tunnel.
Gorge hiking with a view - on the railroad hiking trail
The famous railroad hiking trail runs along the entire UNESCO World Hertige site of the Semmering Railway. The scenic section from Semmering to Klamm-Schottwien station is around 15.5 kilometers long.
