In the market town of Winzendorf-Muthmannsdorf, efforts are made to promote gentle day tourism, so the many easy hiking trails are ideal for day trips with the whole family. The Karl May Western World in Winzendorf offers spectacular performances during the summer months. Performances take place on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. (Information at the festival office: 0664/2012974, www.winnetou-winzendorf.at) A cultural highlight of the village are the Lower Austrian Master Concerts in the parish church of St. Peter am Moos. The old Winzendorf parish church "Mariä Himmelfahrt", which was awarded the Europa Nostra prize, offers treasures worth seeing. The Muthmannsdorf parish church of St. Peter am Moos contains special frescoes from around 1250 and an early Gothic chancel. Muthmannsorf is the only significant dinosaur site in Austria. Display boards and showcases in Winzendorf and Muthmannsdorf provide information about the discovery of the Struthiosaurus austriacus and the site can also be hiked. The excellent inns, from award-winning restaurants to country inns, as well as wine taverns and Taverns, guarantee a good meal. A longer stay is also possible at Gasthof Puchegger.
