Description
This tour combines some of the most beautiful cycle paths through the Viennese Alps. Starting from Gasthof Pichler in Petersbaumgarten, you cycle south along a section of Eurovelo 9 to the junction with the Feistritztal cycle path. The cycle route through the Feistritz Valley takes you through a magical landscape that inspired the philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein. At Kirchberg am Wechsel, a short mountain stage over the Kalvarienberg, past Kranichberg Castle, creates a connection to the Schwarzatal cycle path. In Gloggnitz, which is also the start and finish of the World Heritage cycle route, a visit to the Dr. Karl Renner Museum in the former villa of the great politician, who was State Chancellor from 1918 to 1920 and played a key role in the creation of the First Republic of Austria, is recommended. The route continues along the Schwarza to Neunkirchen, where the historic town center invites you to take a stroll. The route continues via Brunn an der Pitten back onto Eurovelo 9, where you cycle along the Rosalia range of hills. From Walpersbach, the route leads accompanied by the two-castle view of Pitten Castle and Seebenstein to Pitten and back to the starting point in Petersbaumgarten.

Route description Vienna Alps Cycle Tour 2.0 - in progress
You start in Petersbaumgarten at Gasthof Pichler. From there, follow the Eurovelo 9 in the direction of Wechsel to the junction with theFeistritztal cycle path near Höll (to Grimmenstein). Cycle along the Feistritztal cycle path to Kirchberg am Wechsel, where you turn right onto the L137 country road to Gasthof-Pension Ramswirt, where you cycle over the Kranichberg and continue on the L4157 to Gloggnitz. Please note: this section is not signposted. At Gloggnitz you join the Schwarzatal cycle path. In Gloggnitz, you can possibly make a detour into the valley to Reichenau an der Rax, or cycle straight out of the valley via Neunkirchen along the Schwarzatal cycle path back to Bad Erlach. Here you follow the Eurovelo 9 again , along the Rosalia via Seebenstein back to the starting point in Petersbaumgarten.
Here you can also spend the night at the Gasthof Pichler and relax after a hard day's pedaling. And if you want to take it easy, you can make two days out of the tour and stay overnight once in the middle, e.g. in Kirchberg am Wechsel at Gasthof St. Wolfgang - where the cycle path virtually runs through the guest garden.
