The perfect short route with lots of trail meters for a relaxed day on the bike with friends. If you want to take a break along the way, the best place to stop is the Herrgottschnitzer Hut.
Description
Uphill: The route starts from the trail center over the Uphill Flowtrail (uphill single trail, narrow mountain bike uphill section with occasional roots and stones) and then from the reservoir pond over forest roads (path with loose ground) and the Kampsteiner Schwaig route to the beginning of the Almrausch trail (8a).
Downhill trails: First you go down the Almrausch trail (blue/easy) over roots and soft forest floor to the Almrausch hut.
There you can take a good break, refill water bottles or leave a few euros to the host Lois for drinks cooled by him in the fountain.
Then you start on the upper part of the single trail - which winds down in curves over roots, stones, steep sections. If this is still too difficult for you, you can also roll down the forest road. After a few curves - still a good way above the reservoir pond - you reach the forest path towards the Herrgottschnitzer Hut where you turn right and comfortably ride a few meters uphill to the Herrgottschnitzer Hut.
From there the Herrgottschnitzer Trail starts, which at the end meets the single trail again.
Finally, you go back down via the single trail.

Directions
From Vienna take the A2 South Motorway, take the Edlitz exit. Drive towards Aspang. Continue on Wechsel Straße/B54 to Aspang. In the roundabout take the third exit (Gutenberggasse). Turn right onto Bahnstraße. Slight right onto Mühlgasse, Mühlgasse curves slightly to the right and becomes Sonneck. Continue on L137 to Unternberg.
From Graz take the A2 South Motorway, take the Aspang exit. Drive towards Aspang/Zöbern. Turn left onto L137, follow it to Aspang. Turn right onto Hauptplatz, then immediately left onto Gottsbergergasse. Turn left onto Mühlgasse, Mühlgasse curves slightly to the right and becomes Sonneck. Continue on L137 to Unternberg.

On Saturdays and Sundays the VOR bus line with bike trailer runs from Aspang station to the Wexl Arena.
Author's tip
Tip: From the lift mountain station you can also branch off on an easy flow trail at the end or if you are already very technically advanced riders: start on the jumpline (jumpskillz required!) or the downhill line (black/difficult & for experts only).
